Joe Penchi
I interviewed Joe Penchi. Joe was born in Genoa, WI, on January 20th, 1919. He is eighty years old. He has two brothers, Paul, and Albert. He was a bachelor, so he did not have any children or grandchildren. He grew up in Genoa.
Joe went to school in Genoa, too. He went to Mound Ridge School. His teacher’s name was Helen Tower. Some of the subjects that he studied were mathematics, geography, and spelling. Joe did not have a dress code.
Joe lived on a farm, so his chores were to feed the cows, and to carry wood into the house. He never was paid for doing chores around the house. Joe worked as a farmer for most of his life. His duties were to run the entire farm.
Joe also worked as a road patrol man. He was paid about one dollar a day, and about thirty-five dollars a month. Joe was about thirty-four when he got his job as a patrol man. He walked to work. He was never the boss, and he has never been the boss on a job.
Joe has never been in the service. Joe’s hobbies are fishing and farming. He got his drivers license when he was sixteen years old.
The worst thing that happened in Joe’s time was World War II. Joe liked to go to school.
Joe says that to get a good job you have to, "Have common Grade and High School skills."
