Prudential Georgia wants to hear from the next generation of homeowners about their experience of growing up in a home they could call their own, their dream of one day owning a home, or their volunteer experience in the community. To help encourage young people to think critically about this particular facet of the American Dream, Prudential Georgia Realty will be awarding a $1,000 scholarship to each of two high school students who best personify this dream. Pet Lifestyle and You (P.L.A.Y.) is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a high school student who best exemplifies their core beliefs. P.L.A.Y. has always made a point to promote compassion towards animals in both their personal and professional lives. To apply, students need to submit an essay with 2-3 photos of their volunteer efforts to help animals in need and how that involvement has changed their lives or shaped their perceptions on the importance of animal welfare. The United States JCI Senate Foundation is offering $1,000 grant scholarships to graduating high school seniors throughout the country, who plan to continue their education at accredited post-secondary colleges, universities or vocational schools. The Wisconsin Professional Police Association is offering various scholarships to high school seniors enrolling in a course of study leading to a degree in police science or criminal justice upon graduation. The Engineers Foundation of Wisconsin is offering various scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to study engineering at an institution of higher learning. The Wisconsin Education Association Council is offering a $1450 per year ($5800 overall) scholarship. In order to qualify a student must be the child of a parent who is an active WEAC member, the child of an active retired member, or the child of a parent who died while holding WEAC membership. The Foot Locker Scholar Athletes program is offering multiple scholarships to high school seniors entering a four-year college in fall 2013. College Peas is offering a $400 scholarship to a standout student planning to enroll full-time at a four-year college. To be considered students must write an essay (no longer than 100 words) about a special skill, talent or interest that helps them standout from their peers. College Peas recommends engaging in a special kind of activity, a Non-Teenager Activity (NTA) that is quite simply, any activity other teenagers don’t typically do. The Big Beal Scholarship is available to high school seniors planning to enter their first year of college in 2013. To be considered, students must write an essay focusing on an item that they would purchase today and bury in their backyard for their relatives to dig up 200 years from now, and, once found, would put all their financial worries to rest. The Herb Kohl Educational Foundation is awarding $1,000 scholarships to 100 Wisconsin high school graduates. The Kohl Excellence Scholarship recognizes student leadership, citizenship, school and community involvement, and academic achievement. Students will be evaluated on their ability to clearly articulate goals in each of four areas: future educational goals, personal life goals, community/society service goals, and career goals. Applicants must intend to enroll in a postsecondary institution, which may be a public or nonpublic university, college or vocational/technical college. The Elks National Foundation is offering the Most Valuable Student scholarship to high school seniors. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.
