Each week, we're featuring a staff member to help you get to know the amazing people who make De Soto High School such a special place. This week is Ev Wick, fifth grade teacher at Prairie View.
🏴☠️ He is the 5th grade teacher at PV, Driver's Ed instructor, Bus Driver, and Football Coach.
🏴☠️ This is his 24th year teaching.
🏴☠️ He is originally from Clear Lake, WI.
🏴☠️He and his wife live outside of Red Mound. Their son is an 8th grader at DMS and their daughter is a 4th grader at PV.
🏴☠️ His hobbies include Ice fishing, concerts, sporting events, and playing guitar.
🏴☠️ A fun fact about him, he had perfect attendance from 7th through 12th grade.
🏴☠️When asked what excites her most about De Soto, Ev says he likes being part of a small district. The PV PTO provides a ton of extra opportunities for the kids.

🔥 Fire Safety Week Fun! 🔥
Our Prairie View kiddos got to visit the Wheatland Fire Department today! They learned all about fire safety, got to see the fire trucks, and met some of our local heroes. A big thank you to the Wheatland Fire Department for taking the time to teach our students how to stay safe! 🚒👩🚒👨🚒

This week 2nd graders at Prairie View learned about the different kinds of birds that are attracted to bird feeders. For an activity the students designed their own bird feeders to attract seed-eating birds!
Happy National Custodian's Day!
To kick off science Prairie View third graders were asked to bring in something from outside that we would spend science class learning about. One student brought in a monarch caterpillar that we decided to keep as a class pet. After holding her, the students decided to name her Velcro because her feet stuck to whatever she was on. Students were responsible for picking milkweed for her each day. She went into her chrysalis over the weekend. Students enjoyed looking at her chrysalis with a flashlight to see the outline of her wings. Exactly one week after she went into her chrysalis she emerged as a beautiful butterfly. The students had great fun observing her each day!

The PV PTO will be hosting an E-Recycling Event on Saturday, September 20th from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM in the De Soto Middle School parking lot.
This is a great opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of your old electronics! 💻📱🖨️
