Yesterday, we had over 40 High School students tour 3M Prairie du Chien and Design Homes. While at 3M, students learned about the company's history, that they are located not only across the country but also the world. They had the opportunity to listen to multiple engineers describing the products and processes used within their facility as well as the maintenance that is performed to keep everything running efficiently. The students got to see the machines running, maintenance being performed, 3D printing, machining, robotic arms, chemistry, product testing and logistics of how 3M provides the products they do.
During our tour of Design Homes, students learned about their history and where they are located throughout multiple communities. Some students even live in houses that were made at Design Homes. We then got to tour their facilities, seeing how the houses go from the raw materials to the finished product. Students saw framing, drywalling, finish carpentry, electrical wiring, plumbing, roofing and the inspections that are done to make sure the homes are made to their standards. All this happens inside their huge warehouse which is a sight to see.
We want to thank both of these companies for taking time out of their day to show our students all the opportunities that are available.
