Third grade has spent the past two weeks learning about voting during Social Studies. This culminated in an election for Class President. Each student was responsible for writing a campaign speech about why they would make a good Class President. Students also created posters that summarized the platform they were running on. Although not a part of the US election process, students had to write an opinion paragraph stating why the candidate they were voting for would be the best choice for Class President. Leighton Theobald was elected Class President. His campaign promises were to help others, maintain a fun and fair class, include more team building activities, and start the tradition of Farmer Friday. If the Class President does not live up to their campaign promises, they may be impeached by a two-thirds vote of the class, per the 3rd grade's Classroom Constitution.
