Hello! My name is Sarah Bay and I am the 2nd grade teacher at Stoddard Elementary. I have been teaching at Stoddard since 2018. I first started out as a special education teacher, and then moved to 2nd grade. I grew up in the Madison area until I attended college. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse and decided to stay in the area! I live in Onalaska with my husband, two daughters, and dog.
2nd grade is such an exciting year full of growth. In 2nd grade, students will continue to strengthen their reading fluency and comprehension, write organized paragraphs with details, and build confidence in solving multi-step math problems. They will explore place value, addition and subtraction strategies, time, money, and basic geometry. Students will also dive into hands-on science investigations, learn about communities and geography in social studies, and practice important skills like collaboration, responsibility, and critical thinking. I am very passionate about building strong relationships with my students and creating an environment where they are excited and able to learn and grow.
