Mrs Fruit

Title 1 Director

Hello! My name is Sarah Fruit, and I live in Onalaska with my wonderful husband and our lively twins, Jackson and Veronica. Family is a huge part of my life, and I aim to bring that same sense of care, connection, and commitment into my work with students, families, and colleagues.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. Early in my career, I knew that reading and literacy were areas I wanted to specialize in, so I pursued additional coursework and obtained my Reading 316 license from Viterbo University during my first two years of teaching. That experience deepened my understanding of how to support students at all levels in becoming confident, capable readers.

I’ve now been in education for eight years. Seven of those years were spent as a Title I Reading Teacher, where I had the privilege of working closely with small groups of students to provide targeted literacy instruction and build foundational skills. I also had the opportunity to spend one year as a First Grade Teacher, which gave me a valuable perspective on classroom instruction and the broader needs of early learners.

This year, I am honored and excited to step into the role of Title I Coordinator for the district. In this new position, I’m looking forward to supporting our Title I programs across all levels, working collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families to ensure our students have the tools and resources they need to succeed. Literacy has always been a passion of mine, and I feel incredibly fortunate to help lead efforts that can make such a lasting impact in the lives of young learners. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and I’m committed to helping create equitable, engaging, and effective learning experiences for all students.
