World Lit class is currently covering Shakespeare's play "Julius Caesar". In order to get a historically accurate feel the students took initiative to perform rather than sit and read. They spent time putting together their costumes and had to audition for their roles. Currently, the scene is Act III Scene II, Caesar's funeral.

Through the Stoddard Elementary PTO 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸‑𝗜𝗻 mini-grant, Middle & High School students explored healthy media use during Career Day last Friday. They heard from guest speaker Dr. Roxy Etta about phone bans in the DeSoto School District. We're now sharing this short video that she made for YOU to help build on those conversations at home (starting in Elementary School)! Thank you for partnering with us to support our students both IN and OUT of the classroom! 😀 Watch video here: ➡️ https://tinyurl.com/stoddardpto

In Civics, our class became Congress! 🇺🇸🍕
Students took on the roles of the House of Representatives, the Senate, and even the President to pass their very own “Class Pizza Act.” Through debate, compromise, and a few strong opinions about toppings, they experienced firsthand how challenging it can be to turn an idea into a law.
There were amendments, negotiations, and even a potential veto—but in the end, they worked together to create a pizza everyone could agree on (mostly 😉).
Hands-on learning at its best—bringing government to life one slice at a time!

The district will release early today due to projected weather. Elementary schools dismiss at 1:30 PM and middle/high school at 2:00 PM. All after-school activities and Surround Care are canceled.
