Each week, we're featuring a staff member to help you get to know the amazing people who make De Soto school district such a special place.

This week, Arthur Mendoza, 6th - 12th grade Spanish Teacher.

🏴‍☠️ Arthur has been teaching here since 2021.
🏴‍☠️ He grew up in Lima, Peru.
🏴‍☠️ His wife is from Viroqua, but they met in Peru in 2006. They lived in Lima until they moved to Wisconsin in 2021. They have two children that attend Prairie View.
🏴‍☠️He enjoys listening to music and playing electric guitar.
🏴‍☠️A fun fact about Arthur, at first, several students, and even one of the bus drivers, thought he was an exchange student.
🏴‍☠️When asked what excites him most about De Soto Arthur says, "What I like most is that the school is not in a big city. I also enjoy being able to teach both middle and high school, since it gives me the opportunity to teach students for several years, some of them even from 6th grade until they graduate, and to see their growth and progress throughout that entire time."

🏴‍☠️ Hillary has been married to Tyler for 10 years and they have two boys. Their oldest goes to Prairie View and loves it!

🏴‍☠️A fun fact about Hillary, her grandpa was one of De Soto's first Ag teachers, teaching here in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
🏴‍☠️When asked what excites her most about De Soto Hillary says, "What drew me to De Soto 9 years ago was a district and community that truly supported their ag program, and that hasn't changed. 🔥 What a meet! 🔥 Peyton had a standout Coulee Conference meet against West Salem and GMC. An incredible night, taking 🥇 1st on Bars, 🥇 1st on Beam, and 🥇 1st All-Around! She also powered through a strong floor routine taking 5th. Sofiya has been working hard all season, and we can’t wait to see her shine at sectionals! Best of luck to Peyton and Sofiya at sectionals!
