Each week, we're featuring a staff member to help you get to know the amazing people who make De Soto school district such a special place.
This week is Jackie Kreuzer, our Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent.
🏴☠️ This will be Jackie's 12 years of being apart of our district in May.
🏴☠️ She is originally from Here! She grew up in Stoddard, attended Stoddard Elementary and graduated from De Soto High School in 1986.
🏴☠️Jackie is married and has 2 daughters who both graduated from De Soto. Kassidy is a surgical tech at Vernon Health in Viroqua and Kenzy is finishing her education at UW-Superior in Environmental Science & Biology. She has 3 dogs and 2 cats that keep her and her husband busy in their"empty" nest.
🏴☠️She enjoys gardening and canning what they grow, she loves to read and play with their dogs.
🏴☠️ A fun fact about her is a lot of people don't know that she use to drive demo derby cars at the Vernon County Fair. She was the first girl to drive "not" in the Powder Puff division :)
🏴☠️When asked what excites her most about De Soto Jackie says, "I love being a part of the school district I grew up in. I feel it is very important to give back and be part of the solution. In the District Office I don't see students everyday, but I try to make a point to travel the hallways during passing time as often as I can to say hi to the kids and ask how they are doing. I try to congratulate them on successes I hear about so they know people are interested in their lives. I also get to help in the kitchen once in a while and it is awesome to see their smiling faces!!"

Each week, we're featuring a staff member to help you get to know the amazing people who make De Soto school district such a special place.
This week is Meg Buchner, our Elementary Art Teacher. She is also the district TAG (talented and gifted) coordinator. She facilitate events with the Mississippi Valley Gifted and Talented Network, run/coordinate the Middle School Visual Arts Festival and teach six TAG classes a week.
🏴☠️ This is Ms Buchner's 10th year at De Soto and 18th year teaching.
🏴☠️ She is originally from La Crosse. She graduated from Viterbo University. She has three kids who all graduated from De Soto. Her daughter Lane is a third year medical student currently doing clinical rotations in New Jersey. Her son Vin recently graduated from Luther College and works on the AI team at Fastenal in Winona as a computer programer. Her son Silas graduated from De Soto last year and is a freshman at Winona State majoring in composite engineering.
🏴☠️She loves to be outside and kayak, hike and bike! She hasn't always been an art teacher. She used to work at an advertising agency and ran her own marketing/design business for many years.
🏴☠️When asked what excites her most about De Soto Meg says, "I love the supportive community of De Soto! I have received so many kind and wonderful donations over the years."

The Tech Ed. Department and Construction class would like to thank everyone for the interest and support of the tree project. What started as just a few tree sets turned into 22 sets of trees. To say the kids were busy is an understatement! Thankfully there was a lot of teamwork and critical thinking displayed to keep the trees "growing." We would also like to thank La Crosse Area Builders Association (LABA) for their Tools for Schools program. Most of the tools used on this project have been received through this program in recent years. Our community continues to support us and we appreciate it, thank you!

3rd grade students at Prairie View have been learning all about adjectives. To demonstrate their knowledge in a fun way, students made or drew silly monsters and used adjectives to describe them.

Do you have a real Christmas tree you’re finished with and would like to donate? We’d love to put it to good use!
Please drop off any unwanted Christmas trees at the location shown in the photo below. Mr. Lietz will be using them for hands-on projects in his Outdoor Pursuits class.
